Lee West falls to Sumter Co. Middle in Deep South Championship

The Lee West Trojans had a tough outing Wednesday, falling 48-0 to Sumter County in the Deep South Conference football championship game. The Trojans struggled offensively against a relentless Panther defense, and their challenges grew worse when quarterback Bryson Crawford was knocked out of the game. The incident occurred when officials blew the whistle to stop the play, but a Sumter County player continued, delivering a blindside hit on Crawford. Crawford eventually returned to the sideline under his own power. No penalty was called for the hit or the jeering by Panther players that followed. Instead, officials penalized Lee West for the original call, overlooking both the unnecessary hit and unsportsmanlike conduct. Additional photos from the game can be found at AlbanyHerald.com.
