LOS ANGELES — Corey Seager homered and Yasmani Grandal doubled home the go-ahead run to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.

Clayton Kershaw (8-2) struck out nine with three walks. He allowed one run on three hits in seven innings to help the Dodgers (36-25) end a three-game slide and avoid a sweep in the three-game series.

Kershaw outdueled Washington starter Stephen Strasburg in their first-ever matchup. Although Strasburg blanked the Dodgers for five innings, they rallied for two runs in the sixth. Strasburg fanned eight with one walk, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in six innings.

Rockies 8, Indians 1

DENVER — Nolan Arenado struck out four times on Tuesday, but rebounded a day later, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs to help Colorado sweep the two-game series with Cleveland.

The Rockies outscored opponents 32-6 while winning four straight. They are a season-high 15 games above .500 (38-23) and have a series record of 14-3-3. The loss was the fifth in seven games for the Indians.

Rookie left-hander Kyle Freeland (7-3) got his ninth quality start with his 6 1/3 inning, and he held the Indians scoreless until the seventh when Jose Ramirez hit his eighth home run.

Blue Jays 7, Athletics 5 (10 innings)

OAKLAND, Calif. — Josh Donaldson hit a tie-breaking, two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning as Toronto beat Oakland.

Justin Smoak hit two solo home runs — one in the second inning and one in the 10th — to give him 17 for the season, and Kevin Pillar hit a three-run homer in the second for Toronto.

Blue Jays right-hander Roberto Osuna gave up a run in the bottom of the 10th but got his 14th save of the season.

Rajai Davis went 4-for-5 for the A’s.
