Monroe to host MLK Classic Monday

ALBANY – The annual Monroe MLK Classic is set to begin Monday at Noon at Monroe High School and will feature five games.

The day will open with the Lee County Lady Trojans (7-9) facing Kendrick of Columbus (2-11) followed by the Monroe girls (12-4) against Early County (10-5) at 1:30. At 3 p.m. the Early County boys (5-9) will take on Kendrick (6-9).

The final two games will be the showcase of the day as the Dougherty Trojans (8-8) will take on Lee County (15-2). Those two teams opened the season at Dougherty County Tip-off Classic with Lee County taking a 61-54 win.

The last game of the day with feature the Monroe Golden Tornadoes (11-5) competing against the Valdosta Wildcats (10-7) with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
