NBA salary cap set at $99.093 million

The NBA announced late Friday night that the salary cap will be $99.093 million for the 2017-18 season and the luxury tax level will be $119.266 million.

The league made the announcement ahead of 12:01 a.m. ET Saturday, when the “moratorium period” begins and teams can start negotiations with free agents. The moratorium period ends at 12:01 p.m. ET on July 6.

The NBA also set the minimum team salary at $89.184 million. The figure is set at 90 percent of the salary cap.

The league also announced the levels for the three different mid-level exceptions, which are based on a team’s salary level. The non-taxpayer mid-level exception will be $8.406 million, the taxpayer mid-level exception is $5.192 million and the mid-level exception for a team with room under the salary cap is $4.328 million.
