ALBANY, Ga. — New Georgia Firebirds head coach Antwone Savage began filling out his coaching staff, hiring three respected arena football assistants and retaining one coach already on staff Tuesday.

Cecil Lester III, who led the Albany Panthers arena team to back-to-back league championships as quarterback, joins the Firebirds as an offensive coach

The Firebirds also hired Andre’ Slappey as the team’s new line coach and Mitchell Jenkins as the secondary and special teams coach.

Former University of Alabama standout Trent Davidson will remain with the staff as offensive line coach and team chaplain.

The Firebirds inaugural season resumes Saturday against the Atlanta Vultures in their first regular season home game.
