Nine Westover seniors, including Jamie Pettway who signed his letter of intent earlier, were honored Wednesday in the school cafeteria in front of a large and excited crowd as they signed letters of intent to play football after high school.
“These young men worked their tails off for this moment,” said Westover Head Coach Olten Downs. “They have worked and dreamed for this moment.”
Pettway signed with the University of Missouri during the December signing period, but he was on hand in his Missouri t-shirt to be there with his teammates.
Coach Downs called the players down to the table one by one with their families for the signing. Julian Richardson, a wide receiver who was all named first team GACA All-State on Wednesday, signed his letter of intent Akron University (Ohio). He was followed by defensive tackle Adam Martin who signed with Valdosta State University. Running back Jonathan Mock and tight end Jordan Walton followed and they both signed with Savannah State. Malik Stubbs, Keith Pratt and Johnuell Hicks will play together at Arkansas Baptist College and Anthony Jackson will play for the Tigers of Benedict College in South Carolina.
