ATLANTA — Fresh off one of its biggest wins in a decade, No. 18/19 Georgia Tech will try to keep momentum rolling Saturday when it hosts Temple at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. on The CW (Peachtree TV locally).
The Yellow Jackets (3-0, 1-0 ACC) climbed into the national rankings for the first time since 2015 after last week’s 24-21 thriller over then-No. 12 Clemson. Aidan Birr’s school-record-tying 55-yard field goal as time expired lifted Tech to its first 3-0 start since 2016 and its seventh straight home win.
Haynes King Leading the Way
Quarterback Haynes King returned from injury to account for 314 total yards against the Tigers. The senior threw for 211 yards and rushed for 103, marking his second 100/100 game of the season. King is the only player in the nation averaging at least 125 passing yards and 125 rushing yards per game.
Under King, Tech is 7-1 against ranked ACC opponents, and his knack for big plays has sparked one of the nation’s top offenses. The Jackets are averaging 500.3 yards per game, 19th nationally, with a balanced attack that ranks in the top 25 both rushing (230.0) and passing (270.3).
Temple Looking to Bounce Back
Temple (2-1, 0-0 AAC) comes to Atlanta after a humbling 42-3 loss at Oklahoma. The Owls are led by first-year coach K.C. Keeler, a veteran with more than 270 career victories. Quarterback Evan Simon has thrown for nine touchdowns without an interception through three games, while running back Jay Ducker averages 6.6 yards per carry.
The Owls won the only previous meeting between the two programs, a 24-2 decision in Philadelphia in 2019. Saturday marks Temple’s first trip to Atlanta.
What’s at Stake
A win would give Georgia Tech its first 4-0 start since 2014, extend its home winning streak to eight games, and even the all-time series with Temple. A loss would be the Jackets’ first to an unranked opponent at home since 2023.
On the Air
The game will air nationally on The CW with Thom Brennaman, Will Blackmon, and Wes Bryant on the call. The Georgia Tech Sports Network will have radio coverage with Andy Demetra, Andrew Gardner, and Chris Mooneyham (Xtra 106.3/1230 AM in Atlanta). Fans can also listen on SiriusXM channels 138/194 and streaming apps.
