Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze to speak at Albany First Baptist Church

ALBANY – University of Mississippi head football coach Hugh Freeze will be the keynote speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes fundraising banquet Tuesday night at First Baptist Church in Albany.

The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m.

“We are fortunate and blessed to have Coach Freeze as our featured speaker because of his stand on coaching using Biblical principles in building character in his team,” FCA Area Director Bill Cox said in a statement.

Freeze is the first coach in the history of Ole Miss to guide the Rebels to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons, adding a fourth consecutive bowl win in 2015. The Rebels are the only team in the country to beat Alabama, the 2015 national champion, the past two seasons.

Cox said Freeze emphasizes to his players the importance of playing for the love of teammates instead of self. His leadership has also seen a rise in the team’s grade-point average and involvement in service opportunities both locally and abroad, such as spring break mission trips to Panama and Haiti.
