ATLANTA — Matt Olson extended the Braves tremendous early-season success by drilling a ninth-inning walk-off homer in a 4-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday night at Truist Park.

Olson’s two-run homer off former Braves closer Kenley Jansen capped a ninth-inning rally that began with Ozzie Albies drawing a walk. Albies’ first-inning homer off Tarik Skubal had accounted for Atlanta’s only two runs through the first eight innings.

Olson lined his ninth homer of the season into the Braves’ bullpen in right-center field.

Braves starting pitcher JR Ritchie allowed the Tigers three runs (two earned) and five hits over 5 1/3 innings. The rookie struck out four and issued four walks in his second career start.

Before surrendering Riley Greene’s drilled go-ahead solo homer in the third, the Braves rookie endured a frustrating two-run second. Wenceel Pérez sparked the inning with a two-out double that had a 74.1 mph exit velocity. Pérez scored on a Kevin McGonigle single that put Jace Jung in position to score on an errant pickoff attempt.
