Major League Baseball extended the administrative leave of Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna for another seven days as the investigation into an assault charge against him approaches the one-month mark.

The 23-year-old Osuna was originally placed on administrative leave, which has been extended four times, on May 8. The leave means that the Mexico native remains on the restricted list and will continue to collect on his $5.3 million salary, but he cannot play.

The four-year MLB veteran was placed on leave after he was charged with one account of assault in Toronto. While details about the charge have not been released, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reported May 8 that the alleged victim is female. Osuna is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.

According to reports, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred could suspend Osuna with or without pay, depending on the legal outcome of Osuna’s case.

The four-year MLB veteran was a first-time All-Star last season, saving 39 games and leading the league with 58 games finished. Osuna has 104 saves while averaging 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings in his career. In 15 appearances this season, Osuna is 0-0 with a 2.93 ERA and nine saves.
