Lady Hornets finish regular season with 62-49 victory

QUITMAN — The Pelham girls won their 11th straight game and finished the regular season with a 62-49 victory at Brooks County on Friday. The Lady Hornets (23-1, 16-0 Region 1-A) will be the top seed in next week’s region tournament.
Mahogany Brown led Pelham with a game-high 24 points, while Herald Super 6ers Destiny Thomas and Mahogany Randall finished with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Deerfield-Windsor girls 43, Southland 40
The Deerfield-Windsor Lady Knights held off a late Southland rally to remain in the thick of the Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3-AAA standings.
Patsy Cartee and Rachel Bonner led Deerfield-Windsor with 10 points apiece, while Lila Lanier added nine.
The Lady Knights will host Tiftarea on Tuesday night in another key region contest.
Terrell Academy girls 60, Georgia Christian 32
Hannah Harrell led Terrell Academy to a GISA Region 3-AA victory over Georgia Christian. Harrell finished with 16 points, while Javen Wimberly added 12.
Erin Horne finished with 10 points for the Lady Eagles, who will visit Southwest Georgia Academy on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Pelham boys closed out the regular season with a strong victory over Brooks County in a nonregion game in Quitman. Ke’Monterius Byrd and Jake Delegawl led the way with 12 points each, while Dewaun Jones added 10.
Next up for Pelham is an opponent to be determined in the Region 1-A Tournament.
