PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Monroe, Dougherty, Deerfield-Windsor post victories

ALBANY – Corey Randle hit his brother Camryn with a 20-yard touchdown pass and Jordan Washington scored on a one-yard run to give the Monroe Golden Tornadoes a 12-6 win over crosstown rival Westover Friday night at a rainy Hugh Mills Stadium.

The Tornadoes are now 3-1 on the season and will host Randolph-Clay Friday night at Hugh Mills. Westover falls to 1-3 and has next week off and then will travel to Turner County Friday night.

DOUGHERTY 19 HAPEVILLE CHARTER 18

ATLANTA – The Dougherty Trojans scored two fourth quarter touchdowns Friday night to come from behind and beat Hapeville Charter School 19-18 in Atlanta. It is the second week in a row the Trojans, 4-0, have come from behind in the Atlanta area to win the game.

The Trojans were up 7-6 at the half on the strength of a 23-yard touchdown run from Kam Davis, but Hapeville put two touchdowns on the board to lead 18-7 going into the final period. Davis threw a 34-yard touchdown to Larry Lane for the first fourth quarter touchdown and the Trojans got a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Jacob Stallworth to take the lead. Hapeville had the ball and was driving late in the game when they fumbled and Dougherty recovered.

Davis led the rushing attack with 184 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. He threw for 256 yards and one touchdown. Lane had three catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Dougherty’s JaMarcus Harris led the defense with nine tackles, including a sack. He also had an interception for the Trojans. Chancie Brown also had nine tackles and two tackles for loss and two quarterback pressures. Stantavious Smith had five tackles, forced a fumble, and had two quarterback pressures.

The Trojans will travel to Dawson Friday night to take on Terrell County.

DEERFIELD-WINDSOR 27 SOUTHWEST GA 0

DAMASCUS- The Deerfield-Windsor Knights moved their record to 4-0 Friday night with a 27-0 win against Southwest Georgia Academy. Senior running back Ethan Johnson scored two touchdowns to lead the Knights.

“This is a good Southwest Georgia football team,” said DWS head coach Jake McRae. “Our defense played great! We had a few players out with the flu and were still able to overcome it. It gets us to the bye week just in time.”

The shutout Friday night is the first since McCrae has taken over the Knights’ football program. The Knights are off this week and then will start region play by hosting Terrell Academy a week from Friday.

SHERWOOD CHRISTIAN 62 TRINITY 0

GRIFFIN – The Sherwood Christian Eagles improved their season record to 2-1 with a huge 62-0 win over Trinity Christian in Griffin.

Speedster Easton Enfinger rushed for 135 yards on just five carries and scored two touchdowns. Tripp Roberts rushed for 92 yards on right carries and scored three touchdowns. William Price had three carries for 21 yards and scored two touchdowns.

On defense, the Eagles were led by Graham Anderson with six tackles and David Albano with five tackles. Bill Dunwoody had a pick-six for the Eagles, intercepting a Trinity pass and returning it 25 yards for a touchdown.

The Eagles will host Johnson Ferry of Marietta this Friday night at home.

WORTH COUNTY 32 CENTRAL MACON 7

Worth County defeated Central Macon 32-7 on Friday behind Kaden Chester, who rushed 24 times for 130 yards.

Chip Cooper rushed 13 times for 53 yards and a TD, and threw for 94 yards and another score. D’ontae Fulton led the receivers with four catches for 30 yards. Jaylen Fluellen and Kelton Velez added TD runs.

Quinton Cole returned a fumble 12 yards for Worth’s other TD.
