Ohio State transfer quarterback Joe Burrow has picked LSU over Cincinnati, according to a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer on Friday.
Burrow scheduled visits to Cincinnati and LSU last week after announcing his plans to transfer on May 8. A redshirt junior, he still has two seasons of eligibility remaining, and he will be eligible to play immediately as a graduate transfer.
Burrow was a three-star recruit and arrived on the Buckeyes’ campus as a redshirt in 2015. He backed up J.T. Barrett in 2016 but was bumped to No. 3 on the depth chart last season behind redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins, who projects as the 2018 starter.
“I came here to play. I didn’t come here to sit on the bench for four years,” Burrow told the Columbus Dispatch in March. “I know I’m a pretty darn good quarterback and I want to play somewhere.”
With LSU, Burrow would have a chance at the starting job after Danny Etling, last year’s primary option for the Tigers at quarterback, was selected by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of last month’s NFL draft. Other QB options on LSU’s roster include freshman Lowell Narcisse, junior Justin McMillan and sophomores Andre Sale and Myles Brennan.
