PINEHURST — Sherwood Christian’s season got off to a rough start on Friday night. The Eagles fell to Fullington Academy 61-0 in the season opener.
The Eagles had some key injuries going into the game and have just one senior.
“Our youth really showed tonight,” Sherwood coach Chad Evans said. “A couple of kids started cramping in the third quarter, so that really handicapped us from a personnel standpoint.”
Sherwood (0-1) will host Griffin Christian next week.
“We only have one senior,” Evans said. “We’ve got to bounce back and keep pounding. Our youth has to get some experience.”
