Sherwood Christian volleyball posts win

GRIFFIN — The Lady Eagles of Sherwood Christian lost the first set Friday afternoon in Griffin 25-18 but then took the next three sets with scores of 25-21, 26-24, and 25-16.

After losing the first set, the Lady Eagles got leadership from Anna Kroll and Alex Collins who each scored eight points in the set and dominated the nets. Tied 24-24 in the third set, SCA’s Hayden Walker served up two straight aces to give the Lady Eagles the victory. In the third set she had nine aces and a total of 14 points. Arianna Whitmire took care of the back line with seven digs while Lucy Wright had six assists.

Set four was a team effort where Ivy Grace Collins and Hayden Walker each had six digs to lead the defense and Lucy Wright played a strong offensive game as setter, giving several setter dumps to earn the leading scorer spot.

The JV team lost its first set as well 25-11, but then won sets two and three, 25-20 and 15-11.

The Lady Eagles’ JV and Middle School teams will host games Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. The JV and varsity will host games Friday with first serve set for 5 p.m.
