ALBANY — Boys and girls from across southwest Georgia wrapped up participation in the National Youth Sports Program summer camp Friday at Albany State.
The closing event of the month-long summer camp included performances from camp participants and the presentation of raffle prizes, including bicycles, televisions and basketballs that were donated to the program.
According to Albany’s NYSP website, the program serves more than 500 economically disadvantaged youth. The camp combines sports training, nutritional counseling and health education.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. avoided serious injury Sunday night in his team’s overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and he could return to action next week against the Chicago Bears, according to multiple reports Monday.
Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. wasn’t able to finish the Falcons’ 30-23 home loss in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night because of a rib injury, but he is confident the problem is not long-term.
Quarterback Tyler Huntley rushed for the go-ahead touchdown in overtime and Kyle Hamilton picked off Tua Tagovailoa to help the Baltimore Ravens rally for a 30-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night.
