Clanton hits hole-in-one at Doublegate

Bill Clanton drilled a hole-in-one on the Doublegate County Club Signature Par 3 Hole No. 11 on Saturday. Clanton’s achievement came on the 177-yard hole using a 6-iron. It was witnessed by Terry Durham, Jason Flowers and Chris Foreman.

Darton golfers third at Fall Intercollegiate Tournament

Darton trails leader Eastern Florida State and second-place Wallace after the first round of the CACC-WPCC Fall Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Willow Point Country Club in Alexander City, Ala.

Eastern Florida State finished at 307, while second-place Wallace shot a 309.

Darton is third at 310.

Josh Robertson led the Cavaliers with a 72, while Hunter Tidwell and Harrison Mohr each finished at 79. Finley Mason finished with an 80, while Will Leak added an 84.

Georgia game with Georgia Southern a night kickoff

The Saturday, Nov. 21 football game between Georgia and Georgia Southern in Athens will be televised by ESPNU with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

This will be Georgia’s third appearance all-time on ESPNU.

SIAC games most attended in NCAA Division II last week

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) football games featuring Tuskegee and Miles along with Fort Valley State versus Albany State were the most-attended NCAA Division II games last week.

More than 28,000 fans gathered at Alumni Stadium as Tuskegee fell 26-23 to Miles on homecoming, which also doubled as the SIAC west division title game on Saturday.

At the 26th annual Fountain City Classic, the attendance was reported at 17, 856 at A.J. McClung Stadium in Columbus where Albany State defeated Fort Valley State 21-17 to claim the SIAC east division title and advance to Saturday’s championship game.

Miles and Albany State will meet in the 2015 SIAC football championship, which will be held on Saturday at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Dougherty to hold Maroon & White Scrimmage and Kids Clinic

The Dougherty High basketball teams will hold a kids clinic on Saturday at the Dougherty High Gymnasium. Participants will work on the basics of shooting, post and perimeter play, individual offense, defensive footwork, ball-handling and more. The clinic will run from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and is for boys and girls ages 6-14. An admission ticket is good for the Maroon & White Scrimmage. Then Dougherty will hold its annual Maroon & White Scrimmage starting at 6 p.m. with the freshmen boys/girls intrasquad game. The junior varsity girls and boys will scrimmage at 7 p.m., followed by the varsity girls at 8, then the boys at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for students.
