Bueschen, Kimbrel pace Deerfield-Windsor

Bo Bueschen and Jack Kimbrel each had four hits Thursday as Deerfield-Windsor’s baseball team defeated Loganville Christian 12-2.

Kimbrel had four RBI. Bueschen scored a run and had two RBI. Drew Dixon went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Baylin Moore had a triple.

Kimbrel also had a strong pitching performance, allowing two hits in five innings while striking out five.

Pelham sweeps Mitchell County

A 10-run fourth inning gave Pelham’s baseball team a 16-1 victory Thursday over Mitchell County in the opening game of a doubleheader.

Doug Curles went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for Pelham. Cale Whigham had a double. Gunner Wisham was the winning pitcher, striking out five.

Pelham won the second game 11-0. Curles and Payne Hunter each had two hits, while Hunter and Levi Jacobs each had two RBI. Jacobs had a triple, while Hunter had a double. Dakota McEntyre pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out eight and walking one.

Baconton Charter edges Miller County

Jacob Smith’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh drove home the game-winning run Thursday as Baconton Charter’s baseball team defeated Miller County 2-1.

Stone Pinson went 2-for-3 for Baconton Charter. Smith Pinson was the winning pitcher, striking out nine.

Worth County defeats Brooks County

An eight-run first inning set the tone Wednesday as Worth County’s baseball team beat Brooks County 14-1 in Sylvester.

DJ Edwards went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored for Worth County. Jacob Perrin went 2-for-4, both doubles, with two RBI, while Garrett Kelly also had a double.

Perrin was the winning pitcher.

No. 10 Thomas softball swept by No. 22 Warner

Tenth-ranked Thomas University softball dropped a pair of games to No. 22 Warner (Fla.) on Wednesday.

The Night Hawks (25-9) fall to 9-3 in the Sun Conference but still lead the league standings. Warner improved to 7-3 in the conference and 24-9 overall.

Thomas continues its road swing with a doubleheader at Coastal Georgia this Wednesday, then returns to Armory Field April 14 for a doubleheader against Southeastern (Fla.).
