Darton baseball team falls to East Georgia

The Darton State College baseball team lost 8-7 to East Georgia Friday afternoon in Swainsboro. The Cavaliers still lead the conference standings by one game over South Georgia State with two games left to play in the regular season.

Darton must win both games of the doubleheader at East Georgia today to clinch the conference title outright and the top seed in the conference tournament that begins next week at Darton.

Rabon Martin took the loss on the mound Friday, allowing just one earned run on eight hits.

John Cable finished 1 for 3 with a two-run homer and a pair of RBIs, Denzell Gowdy went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, while Colton Thomas went 1 for 3 with a double.

The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. today in Swainsboro.
