Darton baseball finishes off sweep of ABAC
The Darton State College baseball team took three games from ABAC over the weekend to improve to 33-17 and 18-6 in conference play. They remain one game ahead of second-place South Georgia State in the conference standings with four games left in the regular season.
The Cavaliers defeated ABAC 14-1 Friday night behind pitcher Rabon Martin, who hurled a complete game to earn the victory. He allowed one run on six hits. Denzell Gowdy went 3 for 4 with a homer and five RBIs to lead the offense. Landon Crowder went 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Mike Huggins was 3 for 5 with a double.
Darton then took a pair of games on Saturday. They won 6-0, then 13-5.
Jeremy Beasley pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout in the 6-0 victory. Kendall Herron went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI, while Colton Thomas went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
In the 13-5 victory, Brad Cammack picked up his first college victory in relief, while former Lee County standout Michael Reddick earned the save. Crowder went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Cable went 2 for 2 with an RBI and Cody Ilgenfritz went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.
Darton plays host to East Georgia College Tuesday at 4 p.m.
