Darton’s Robertson win CACC-WPCC Fall Intercollegiate Tournament
Darton State College freshman Josh Robertson finished with a two-day total of 141 to win the CACC-WPCC Fall Intercollegiate Tournament at Willow Point Country Club in Alexander City, Ala. on Tuesday.
Robertson finished at 69 on Tuesday to take top honors, edging Wallace State’s Sylas Elliott by three stokes.
The freshman helped the Cavaliers finish fourth. Darton finished at 611 (310-301), 15 strokes behind Eastern Florida State who finished at 596. Wallace State was second at 599 (309-290), while Central Alabama (314-287) finished third at 601.
Robertson, however, stole the show.
“I played pretty well and didn’t make any bogeys,” he said.
It was the final tournament in Darton’s fall season. The Cavaliers will begin their spring season in early February. But finishing strong on Tuesday was Darton coach Gary Hilton’s main objective.
“We’ve had several guys play well at different levels, we’ve just got to put it together,” Hilton said. “Talent is not the issue. Hopefully in the spring, we can put it all together at the same time.”

Grizzlies acquire Chalmers from Heat
The Miami Heat traded guard Mario Chalmers and forward James Ennis to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday in exchange for guard Beno Udrih and forward Jarnell Stokes.
Chalmers is in the final year of his contract and not part of the Heat’s future plans. The Grizzlies hope the 29-year-old veteran can serve as a capable backup to point guard Mike Conley.
“Rio can hold his head high, leaving on a great note here,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “He’ll always be remembered as a two-time champion point guard here in Miami, welcomed in Miami from here on out.”
In his eighth NBA season, Chalmers has career averages of 8.8 points and 3.8 assists per game in 525 games. He ranks second in team history in steals, third in assists, fourth in games played and fourth in 3-pointers made.
“This is an tough day for myself and the organization in trading Mario Chalmers and James Ennis,” Heat president Pat Riley said. “Mario was a part of two championships with us and Ennis is a solid young player, but it is part of the business and it was a move necessary to make because of our crowded backcourt.”
The 33-year-old Udrih is averaging 5.9 points and 3.3 assists in eight games this season. He has averaged 8.7 points in 756 career games.
The 21-year-old Stokes has played in 21 games in two seasons with averages of 2.7 points and 1.7 rebounds.
The 25-year-old Ennis played in 65 career games for the Heat and averaged 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds.
