GSW baseball swept at North Georgia
The Georgia Southwestern baseball team was swept in a three-game Peach Belt Conference series at North Georgia over the weekend.
North Georgia won the opener 7-1 on Saturday at Bob Stein Stadium, followed with a 17-4 win, and capped the series off with a three-run, walk-off home run in the finale on Sunday to win 5-3.
Jared Jones and Josh Logan led GSW at the plate in the series as both went 4-for-10. Jones belted two home runs and drove in four runs.
GSW exits the weekend with a 3-12 overall record and an 0-9 mark in Peach Belt play. North Georgia improved to 7-8 overall, 3-3 in the PBC.
The Hurricanes resume action on Saturday when they travel to St. Augustine, Florida, on Saturday for a doubleheader as part of a three-game Peach Belt series against Flagler.
ABAC hosting golf fund-raiser
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will host its second annual Supporters’ Tournament on March 16 at Forest Lakes Golf Club in Tifton.
The 8 a.m. shotgun start involves four-person teams. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward maintenance of the club.
The cost is $60 per person or $225 for a team, with lunch provided. Long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests will be conducted, and hole sponsorships are available.
