Lee County wins semifinal coin toss

The Lee County football team has a big GHSA Class 6A quarterfinal ahead Friday when it hosts Mays, but the Trojans received some good news Tuesday afternoon about what’s ahead should they beat the Raiders.

A universal coin toss conducted Tuesday by GHSA executive director Robin Hines to determine semifinal hosts went Lee County’s way. That means the Trojans will host the Harrison-Glynn Academy winner on Dec. 1 should they prevail this Friday.

All four teams remaining on Lee County’s side of the Class 6A draw are region champions, meaning semifinal hosting rights rode on the coin flip, as well as semifinal-specific stadium capacity requirements spelled out in the GHSA’s bylaws.

Trojan Field seats 7,500, which is 1,500 more than the GHSA’s semifinal minimum.

Friday’s game against Mays is slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, with tickets going on sale at 3 p.m. Friday in the high school’s main office. Tickets are also available online at gofan.co.
