SGTC’s Adenike signs with George Mason
Esther Adenike, a first-team NJCAA All-American from South Georgia Tech, has signed with the George Mason women’s basketball program.
“We are extremely happy for Nike,” South Georgia Tech head coach James Frey said in a release. “This has been a huge week for her personally. She was an honor graduate Tuesday night, and now signing with George Mason. She has worked very hard to achieve both of these goals.
“Finishing with a 3.7 GPA is a testament to her work ethic and determination. George Mason is getting a great young lady who will represent them well both on the court and in the classroom. She was very deserving of all the accolades she received this year.”
Adenike helped lead South Georgia Tech to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association championship and a second-round appearance in the NJCAA national tournament. She averaged 13.6 points per game and was named the GCAA Player of the Year.
ABAC hires soccer coach
A former starting sweeper for Black Sea Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey, is the new women’s soccer head coach at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
“Coach Sisman brings a knowledge of the sport, from the perspective of both player and coach, which will greatly benefit our student-athletes,” ABAC athletics director Alan Kramer said in a release. “He also has many local and international recruiting connections that will benefit our program from a recruiting standpoint. We are excited about the passion he has for soccer and his interest in developing players.”
Sisman replaces Jimmy Ballenger, who stepped down as the soccer coach to assume full-time classroom duties at ABAC. Ballenger was hired as the ABAC’s first soccer coach in 2006, compiling a record of 116-84-7 in 12 seasons.
“I am glad to have the opportunity to join the ABAC Family,” Sisman said in the release. “I look forward to working closely with the ABAC academic team and its soccer players. My goal is to lead the ABAC soccer team to further heights by guiding and training all the players individually and collectively to reach the players’ and the team’s fullest potential.”
