Sherwood soccer teams sweep Central Fellowship
The Sherwood soccer teams scored a pair of victories over Central Fellowship Thursday night in Macon. The Lady Eagles took a 3-1 victory as Mollie Kate McClearn scored a pair of goals and Aubri Hughes added one.
In the boys game, the Sherwood Eagles took a 2-0 victory behind a pair of goals from Odoey Koffie.
Baconton Charter baseball routs Webster
The Baconton Charter baseball team routed Webster County 17-2 Thursday to move a step closer to clinching the top seed in the upcoming Region 1-A Tournament. The Blazers improved to 15-3. Taber Raley earned the victory on the mound to improve his record to 6-1. He struck out eight and gave up four hits while both of his runs were unearned.
Brantley Morgan finished with three hits and four RBIs, Brooks Pinson finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Raley and Hunter Cain each added two hits and two RBIs.
Worth County baseball routs Dougherty
Worth County pitcher Hunter Goodwin struck out all nine batters he faced and the Rams cruised to an easy 15-0 victory over Dougherty Wednesday night at Pope Park.
On senior night, the sophomore helped send six seniors out on a high note.
Austin Jones went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. Jake Jones finished 1 for 1 with a double. Shelby Cox and Tucker Johnson added a pair of RBIs, while Tripp Goff added one.
Former Brave Hudson lands TV analyst job
Another retired Atlanta Braves great is returning to Turner Field this season.
Former pitcher Tim Hudson is joining Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast as a game analyst for some games this season. Hudson will debut Saturday alongside play-by-play announcer Chip Caray and analyst Joe Simpson when the Braves host the Cardinals.
“It will be great to be back at Turner Field, and I appreciate the opportunity to try this new endeavor,” Hudson said.
Hudson, a four-time All-Star, spent nine seasons on the mound with the Braves, compiling a 113-72 record from 2005 to 2013. He retired after the 2015 season had a career record of 222-133 in the majors.
