SGTC’s Adenike named All-American
South Georgia Tech forward Esther Adenike has been selected to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Two-Year College All-American team for 2018.
The sophomore from Lagos, Nigeria, helped lead the Jets to the NJCAA Division I national tournament last season and helped lead SGTC to the NJCAA Region XVII title this season.
“We are really excited that the WBCA, which is an organization comprised of women’s basketball coaches, saw fit to honor Esther ‘Nike’ Adenike as an All-American,” South Georgia Tech head coach James Frey said in a news release. “I think this speaks of not just her work ethic and dedication to the sport, but also to the type of person she is.
“If you spend any time around her, you know she always has a huge smile on her face and is thankful for every opportunity she has been given. She truly has made the most of her opportunity at South Georgia Technical College. I am so proud of her, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.”
South Georgia Tech (27-5) travels to Spartanburg Methodist for a 2 p.m. contest Saturday to decide the NJCAA District J title and an automatic berth in the NJCAA national tournament.
