Report: ETSU’s Sanders under investigation

East Tennessee State placed first-year football head coach Randy Sanders on paid administrative leave Monday as it investigates a “potential violation of university policy.”

According to the Johnson City (Tenn.) Press, Sanders allegedly hit defensive back Tyree Robinson in the helmet during a recent spring practice session.

Robinson reportedly was struck after he “failed to take a knee during a drill,” the newspaper reported.

East Tennessee hired Sanders in December to replace retiring Carl Torbush. He was co-offensive coordinator at Florida State last season.

Sanders has a base salary of $255,000, according to the newspaper.
