LEESBURG — Sophomore Sydney Donaldson scored 15 second-half points to power the Westover Lady Patriots to a 47-33 victory over Liberty County in Thursday evening’s “Girl Power Classic” at Lee County High School.
The game began with a flurry of turnovers, as both teams struggled with visibility while wearing dark jerseys. Despite the miscues, Westover ended the first quarter with an 8-2 lead. Liberty County responded in the second quarter, fueled by four three-pointers—three of which came from sharpshooting guard Maritza Troche. The Lady Panthers briefly seized a 17-16 lead before Westover’s Savannah Donaldson sank two clutch free throws just before halftime, putting the Lady Patriots ahead 18-17.
Westover took control in the third quarter, outscoring Liberty County 14-6 to build a 32-23 advantage. Sydney Donaldson was dominant during the run, scoring eight points, while Kaiya Conway contributed six.

Liberty County attempted a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter, implementing a full-court press that disrupted Westover’s rhythm and generated multiple steals. However, the Lady Panthers’ shooting woes prevented them from closing the gap.
