Terrell Academy downs Westwood; Worth County’s Avery Kilcrease pitches a no-hitter in sweep of Berrien

CAMILLA – The Terrell Academy Eagles smacked 15 hits and improved to 4-0 on the young season Monday with a 7-1 win over the Westwood Wildcats in Camilla.

The Eagles scored single runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead then broke the game open with four runs in the fourth to lead 6-0.

Quidon Wright and Tyler Loewe knocked three hits each while Dozier Swain and John Mark Irvin each had two. Wright and Swain batted in two runs apiece.

Loewe earned the win on the mound for the Eagles. He pitched four innings and allowed just two hits and one earned run. Trevor Shipley pitched the final three innings.

Westwood’s Liam Rogers took the loss on the mound.

The Wildcats (1-1) managed four hits in the game, one each by Roberts, Bryce Roberts, Kaden Gunn, and Jett Hinteregger.

The Eagles will be at home against Brookstone Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Wildcats will be at home again Thursday to host Grace Christian Academy of Bainbridge.

Worth County Sweeps Berrien

SYLVESTER – Worth County sophomore Avery Kilcrease pitched a no-hitter in game two of Monday’s doubleheader with Berrien and the Worth County Rams swept both games, 10-0 and 1-0.

Kilcrease pitched a complete seven innings with no hits or runs. He walked two and struck out 11.

Berrien’s Colby Smith was almost as impressive, giving up only three hits and one run in six innings. He struck out eight Rams.

Drake Jones knocked in the only run of the game in the fourth inning. Luke Smith started the inning by reaching on an error and then going to third on a single to center from Coy Etheredge. One out later, Jones singled to second base to score Smith.

In game one, Luke Rogers drove in four runs on three hits and the Rams breezed to a 10-0 win. Luke Smith and Owen Fletcher had two hits each as Worth County collected 11 hits in the game.

Jones pitched five innings of one-hit ball to take the win on the mound. He walked two and struck out five. Caden Emerson pitched the sixth inning to end the game on the mound for Worth County.

The Rams will play at Berrien Thursday and then host Fitzgerald Tuesday at Pope Park.
