Terrell County’s DeTravion Bishop enjoying recruiting frenzy
Four-star prospect could make decision soon

In the world of college football, an athlete is “a prospect that could project at a number of positions on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball.”
The definition, provided by the recruiting website Rivals, is the perfect way to describe Terrell County quarterback DeTravion “Tray” Bishop.
Bishop, who plays baseball, basketball and runs track, is currently one of the most-sought-after athletes in the 2017 recruiting class. ESPN has him rated as the No. 9 athlete and the No. 17 prospect in the state of Georgia.
Just last week, Bishop, who has received offers from at least 15 schools, announced that his final three schools were Auburn, Florida and Georgia in no particular order.
“Auburn was my No. 1 for a while,” Bishop said. “When the recruiting picked up, Georgia came into the picture. I took a visit and started communicating with their coaches more. They started moving up on my list. Right before we got out of school, Florida stepped up and I enjoyed my visits I had with them.”
What makes the recruiting process even more unique is that he sees himself playing a different position at each school.
According to his Twitter, the four-star went to visit Auburn this past weekend. The Tigers have been after Bishop since last summer and he thinks he could play quarterback there.
The Bulldogs were originally after Bishop as an athlete, but after firing head coach Mark Richt and replacing him with Kirby Smart, their stance on his position has changed.
“Coach Smart offered me as a dual-threat quarterback,” Bishop said. “That was very surprising to me. I’m not sure if I can see myself playing quarterback at Georgia. I would say I would be more of a receiver.”
If Bishop were to go to Florida, he thinks defensive back would be his best position.
“It is kind of crazy,” Bishop said. “I have three different SEC schools and different positions in mind for each one.”
Bishop said he hasn’t decided what position he wants to play yet, and he will continue to work on improving at all three positions this summer.
He said it is likely that a decision won’t be made until late August or early September and he wants to take at least one more visit to each school before deciding.
