Notes: Both teams won region titles last year, Lee County in GHSA Region 1-6A and Americus-Sumter in GHSA Region 1-4A … Lee County’s defense has yet to allow a touchdown this season … Larry Harold picked up his first win as Americus-Sumter head coach two weeks ago when the Panthers defeated Dougherty.

Heritage-Newnan

at Deerfield-Windsor

Last week: Heritage beat Creekside Christian 55-12; Deerfield-Windsor beat Glenwood (Phenix City, Alabama) 13-10.

Notes: Deerfield-Windsor has shifted from a run-based offense, with power runner Garrett Jones coming out of the backfield, to more of a pass-based system with veteran quarterback Jack Kimbrel throwing to a pair of 6-foot-5 targets … Both of Deerfield-Windsor’s wins this season (Westfield, Glenwood) have come by three points … Heritage opened its season with a 36-10 win over Terrell Academy before defeating Flint River and Creekside.

Seminole County

Notes: After winning big over Pataula Charter and losing big to Pelham, Baconton Charter has what could be its first true measuring stick game tonight against Seminole County … After getting shut out in its opener by Bainbridge, Seminole County managed just one scoring play in a one-point win over Calhoun County.

Perry

at Monroe

Last week: Perry beat Westside-Macon 30-27; Westover beat Monroe 26-6.

Last meeting: Monroe won 11-0 in 2015.

Notes: Perry has six votes in the Georgia Sports Writers Association Class 4A poll following wins over Houston County, Northeast-Macon and Westside-Macon … Monroe suffered its first loss of the season last week after opening with wins over Jordan and Terrell County.

Stewart County

at Calhoun County

Last week: Stewart County beat Randolph-Clay 33-0; Seminole County beat Calhoun County 7-6.

Series history: Calhoun County leads 5-1.

Last meeting: Calhoun County won 27-0 last season.

Notes: Stewart County has not won more than two games in a season since Stewart-Quitman split into separate high schools in 2008, but the Royal Knights are 2-0 under first-year head coach Ashley Harden, a coach who accomplished quick turnarounds at Butler, Jenkins County and Twiggs County and spent last season as the head coach at Northeast-Macon … Calhoun County has been competitive in both of its losses, leading Schley County early in the Cougars’ season opener and playing Seminole County to a one-point game last week.

Loganville Christian

at Southland

Records: Loganville Christian 2-1; Southland 2-0.

Last week: Loganville Christian beat Flint River 27-17; Southland beat Westfield 15-14.

Series history: Loganville Christian leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Loganville Christian won 21-20 in overtime in the first round of the 2015 GISA Class 3A playoffs.

Notes: Southland is looking to secure its third straight 3-0 start … Loganville Christian has won two straight this season, defeating Creekside Christian and Flint River after opening with a loss to Bethlehem Christian.

Worth County

at Early County
