Notes: A meeting between 2017 state champions takes place Saturday morning in Leesburg, as Lee County head coach Dean Fabrizio takes on a program where he was an assistant coach in the 1990s … Lee County held Dougherty to minus-70 yards of total offense in last week’s Hamp Smith Classic … Dr. Phillips, last year’s Florida Class 8A champion, had a lot of graduation losses, especially on offense.

Dougherty

at Americus-Sumter

Game time: 7:30 p.m.

Notes: Originally scheduled for Sept. 28, this game was moved to today by agreement of both head coaches in order to eliminate a double bye week for both teams … Despite getting its offense shut down against Lee County, Dougherty did have a few bright spots last week, most notably three takeaways that included an early fumble return for a touchdown … Americus-Sumter quarterback Kierston Harvey threw for more than 200 yards last week, but the Panthers were unable to halt their losing streak against Crisp County.

Terrell County

at Monroe

Game time: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Terrell County 0-1; Monroe 1-0.

Last week: Chattahoochee County beat Terrell County 46-32; Monroe beat Jordan 47-14.

Series history: Monroe leads 16-4.

Last meeting: Monroe won 33-14 in 2015.

Notes: Terrell County got some offense going last week, scoring 32 points on a team that reached the GHSA Class 1A-Public playoffs … Monroe quarterback David Dillard had an excellent opening week, accounting for five touchdowns and more than 300 yards of total offense … Monroe has won the past 10 games in this series, with Terrell County’s most recent victory against Monroe coming in 2001.

Dooly County

at Worth County

Game time: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Dooly County 5-7 in 2017, Worth County 0-1 this season.

Last week: Dooly County off; Turner County beat Worth County 28-19.

Series history: First meeting.

Notes: Worth County saw its losing streak extended to 12 games last week, but the nine-point margin was the closest during that stretch … Tonight’s game marks the debut of Corey Jarvis, formerly the head coach at M.L. King, Duluth and Mays, as Dooly County’s head coach … Jarvis, who led Mays to the 2014 GHSA Class 5A championship game, took over from Jimmy Hughes when Hughes took the athletics director position at Crisp County.

Schley County

at Calhoun County

Notes: A series that Calhoun County dominated in the early 2000s when it was a region game, Schley County has won the past two meetings … Schley County is coming off a second-round playoff appearance last year.

Westfield

Notes: A series that once featured a matchup of the GISA’s top head coaches in Westfield’s Ronnie Jones and Deerfield-Windsor’s Allen Lowe, Westfield has struggled since Jones retired to become an assistant on son Chance Jones’ squad at Tattnall Square … The Hornets went 1-9 in 2016 and 2-9 last season … Lowe begins his 26th season as Deerfield-Windsor’s head coach.

Southwest Georgia

at Southland
