Lee County

at Valdosta

Records: Lee County 8-0, 2-0 GHSA Region 1-6A; Valdosta 2-5, 0-1.

Last week: Lee County beat Northside-Warner Robins 16-13 in overtime; Valdosta off.

Series history: Valdosta leads 7-0.

Last meeting: Valdosta won 27-7 in 2016.

Notes: Lee County will try to beat another region foe for the first time after picking up its first-ever win over Northside-Warner Robins in dramatic fashion last week … The top-ranked Trojans are 8-0 for the first time in program history … Defending GHSA Class 6A champion Valdosta is in danger of posting its worst record in 11 years, when the Wildcats went 1-9 … Valdosta scored 44 and 26 points in wins over Thomas County Central and Woodland-Stockbridge, but it scored just a combined 30 points in losses to Lowndes, Wayne County, Tift County, Colquitt County and Northside.

Worth County

at Dougherty

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Worth County 0-7, 0-1 GHSA Region 1-3A; Dougherty 1-7, 0-2.

Last week: Worth County off; Cook beat Dougherty 33-32.

Series history: Worth County leads 19-10.

Last meeting: Worth County won 42-12 in 2016.

Notes: Although these teams have combined for just one win, the nature of the five-team region they play in means the winner of this game gets an inside track on a playoff spot … Dougherty has had some close calls this season, with a one-point loss to Turner County, a seven-point loss to Berrien and another one-point loss last week to Cook … All of Worth County’s losses this season have come by double-figure margins.

Westover

at Cairo

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Westover 3-4, 1-3 GHSA Region 1-4A; Cairo 4-3, 3-1.

Last week: Westover beat Columbus 26-13; Cairo beat Carver-Columbus 24-13.

Series history: Cairo leads 22-4.

Last meeting: Cairo won 34-6 in 2016.

Notes: Westover sits one game out of fourth place, but the teams tied for fourth, Hardaway and Carver-Columbus, both defeated Westover earlier this season, essentially putting the Patriots two games out of a playoff spot with three games to go … Westover has just two wins over Cairo in the past 25 years, coming in 1993 and 2013 … That 1993 win came during the Westover coaching tenure of Robin Hines, now the executive director of the GHSA.

Stewart County

at Pelham

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Stewart County 1-6, 0-6 GHSA Region 1-1A; Pelham 6-1, 6-0.

Last week: Baconton Charter beat Stewart County 39-14; Pelham beat Randolph-Clay 53-0.

Series history: Pelham leads 2-1.

Last meeting: Pelham beat Stewart County 61-8 in 2016.

Notes: Pelham and Mitchell County are on track for a Nov. 3 meeting in Camilla for the region title, should Pelham beat Stewart County and Seminole County and Mitchell County top Calhoun County and Baconton Charter … The Hornets and Eagles are tied for first in Region 1-1A, two games ahead of Seminole County and Chattahoochee County with three games remaining in the regular season.

Calhoun County

at Mitchell County

Time: 7:30 p.m., Saturday.

Records: Calhoun County 1-6, 1-5 GHSA Region 1-1A; Mitchell County 6-1, 6-0.

Last week: Chattahoochee County beat Calhoun County 43-0; Mitchell County beat Seminole County 35-8.

Terrell Academy

at Westwood

Notes: Southwest Georgia has wrapped up the Region 3-2A title and the first-round playoff bye that goes with it, but the winner of this game will get to host a first-round playoff game while the other travels … Barring an upset win by winless First Presbyterian Christian over Robert Toombs on Friday, the Terrell Academy-Westwood winner will host FPCA next weekend while the loser will travel to Memorial Day.

Deerfield-Windsor

at Brookwood

Records: Deerfield-Windsor 5-4, 2-1 GISA Region 3-3A; Brookwood 4-4, 0-3.

Notes: After wins over Southland and Tiftarea, Deerfield-Windsor saw its control of Region 3-3A disappear last week with its loss to Valwood … The loss allowed Southland, which wrapped up regular-season play last week, to claim a share of the region title with a 3-1 region mark … Deerfield-Windsor can still claim the top playoff seed from the region with a win over Brookwood and a Valwood loss to Tiftarea … A Deerfield-Windsor win and a Valwood win would result in a three-way tie for the region title.

Chattahoochee County
