Series history: Dougherty leads 28-18-1.

Last meeting: Dougherty won 21-14 in 2016.

Notes: It’s the start of GHSA Region 1-3A play for both teams, and that means playoff position is at stake, right along with bragging rights … Monroe is looking for a sweep of county opponents following its 21-6 win over Westover on Aug. 25 … The Tornadoes are four points away from a 3-2 record, with a one-point loss to Thomas County Central and a three-point defeat at the hands of Berrien … Dougherty quarterback Jaylen Joyner has thrown for 1,040 yards and eight touchdowns.

Deerfield-Windsor

at Tiftarea

Last week: Deerfield-Windsor beat Southland 20-17; Tiftarea beat Brookwood 34-26.

Series history: Deerfield-Windsor leads 20-2-1.

Last meeting: Deerfield-Windsor won 35-13 in 2016.

Notes: Deerfield-Windsor has won 16 straight over Tiftarea, with Tiftarea’s last win over Deerfield-Windsor coming in 1998 … With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the region race should shape up quickly, with Deerfield-Windsor hosting the only other unbeaten team in region play, Valwood, next week … Deerfield-Windsor hasn’t allowed n opponent to score more than 21 points all season.

Cook

at Worth County

Records: Cook 1-4, Worth County 0-6.

Last week: Cook beat Early County 49-13; Harris County beat Worth County 44-13.

Series history: Worth County leads 15-14.

Last meeting: Worth County won 37-30 in 2016.

Notes: Cook endured a brutal non-region schedule, losing to three teams that are currently unbeaten (Brooks County, Tift County and Thomasville) and a fourth (Brunswick) that is 3-1 and plays three classifications higher before sailing past Early County last week … Worth County, meanwhile, has had a disastrous start, starting 0-6 for the first time since 2005 … The game is the GHSA Region 1-3A opener for both teams.

Baconton Charter

at Randolph-Clay

Records: Baconton Charter 1-4, 0-4 GHSA Region 1-1A; Randolph-Clay 2-3, 2-2.
