Grovetown

at Lee County

Game time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Grovetown 7-4 (second in Region 3-6A); Lee County 10-1 (first in Region 1-6A).

Last week: Grovetown beat Lovejoy 35-27; Lee County beat Richmond Hill 29-21.

Common opponents: Richmond Hill (Grovetown lost 37-7, Lee County won 29-21).

Playoff appearances: Richmond Hill 2, Lee County 11.

Series history: First meeting.

Winner gets next: Centennial (No. 2 seed)-Mays (No. 1 seed) winner.

Notes: Grovetown started off 1-3, but the Warriors won five of their final six regular-season games following a change at quarterback … Jahmar Bingham, a senior, has only thrown for 755 yards and five touchdowns (with five interceptions), but he also has run for 352 yards and three scores for Grovetown … Senior running back D’Angelo Durham has run for 1,053 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Warriors … This is the first time this season Grovetown will play a team ranked in the Georgia Sports Writers Association poll … A win by Lee County sends the Trojans to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

Schley County

at Mitchell County

Game time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Schley County 8-3 (No. 13 seed, second in Region 4B-1A); Mitchell County 9-1 (No. 4 seed, Region 1-1A champion).

Last week: Schley County beat Turner County 14-6; Mitchell County off.

Common opponents: Calhoun County (Schley County won 28-6, Mitchell County won 42-0).

Playoff appearances: Schley County 3, Mitchell County 34.

Series history: First meeting.

Winner gets next: Dooly County (No. 21 seed)-Clinch County (No. 5 seed) winner.

Notes: Schley County is looking to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history, while Mitchell County is looking to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1999 … Schley County emphasizes the run, racking up more than 3,000 rushing yards to just 550 passing yards … Calvin Sims has run for 1,053 yards and 11 touchdowns for Schley County, while James Baker has added 805 yards and 11 scores.

Pelham

at Macon County

Game time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Pelham 9-2 (No. 10 seed, second in Region 1-1A); Macon County 7-3 (No. 7 seed, won Region 4B-1A, lost region title game to Manchester).

Last week: Pelham beat Towns County 41-14; Macon County off.

Common opponents: None.

Playoff appearances: Pelham 26, Macon County 29.

Series history: Macon County leads 13-7; Macon County leads 3-1 in playoff games.

Last meeting: Macon County won 35-12 in the first round of the 2015 Class 2A playoffs.

Notes: Pelham is looking to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 1982, but it will have to get past the defending Class 1A-Public champion in order to do so … The quarterback who led Macon County to last year’s title and set the single-season state record for touchdown passes with 56, K’hari Lane, is on the roster at Arizona … Lane’s replacement, Jadarrius Hicks, isn’t quite as prolific, throwing for 1,369 yards and 23 touchdowns to go along with 656 yards and eight scores on the ground, but running back Aukeeveous McLendon is complementing him with 1,080 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

Tift County

at Hillgrove

Game time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Tift County 10-1 (second in Region 1-7A); Hillgrove 8-3 (Region 3-7A champion).

Last week: Tift County beat Newnan 59-13; Hillgrove beat Roswell 45-7.

Series history: First meeting.

Winner gets next: Milton (No. 2 seed)-Brookwood (No. 1 seed) winner.

Colquitt County

at Walton

Game time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Colquitt County 8-3 (third in Region 1-7A); Walton 11-0 (Region 4-7A champion).
