THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central grabbed the lead early and defeated Lee County 7-1 Wednesday night in a nonregion game. Pitchers Brandon Slocumb and Ethan Hopper combined to allow Lee County just one run on four hits.
It was the Trojans’ second loss in their last three games.
Garrett Suiter’s RBI single in the fifth inning scored Lee County’s only run. Daquann Jefferson went 2 for 3 to lead the offensive attack, while Jonathan Logsdon had the Trojans’ other hit.
Lee County (9-4) will open Region 1-AAAAAA play at 6 p.m. Friday night against Northside-Warner Robins.
