Tiger Woods worked around a double bogey to card an even par round of 70 during the first round of the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on Thursday.
Beginning the tournament on the back nine, Woods reached 2-under with birdies on two of his first four holes. He gave a shot back with a bogey on the 16th hole, making his turn in 1-under 34.
Woods double bogeyed the third hole, one of only two par-5s at PGA National, but rebounded with a birdie on the following hole and closed out his round with five consecutive pars.
He was in a tie for 23rd as he finished his round, just four shots off the lead of 4-under set by Alex Noren from the morning wave of players.
Woods is playing in consecutive tournaments for the first time since making his return to the PGA Tour last month. He missed the cut at the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club last week, and committed to the Honda Classic just hours before last Friday’s deadline.
