CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Luke Maye produced another big game with 22 points as No. 13 North Carolina drilled Tulane in a 97-73 victory Sunday afternoon at the Smith Center.

Joel Berry II and Kenny Williams both scored 13 points for the Tar Heels (8-1), who’ve won by double-digit margins in each victory. North Carolina shot 63.3 percent and won for the third time in five days.

Maye, who also pulled down 10 rebounds, has scored at least 20 points in seven games this season after never scoring more than 17 points in a game during his first two seasons.

Melvin Frazier had 27 points, while Cameron Reynolds added 18 points, for Tulane (6-2), which has lost to the Tar Heels in three consecutive seasons.

No. 5 Notre Dame 71, St. Francis (N.Y) 53

SOUTH BEND, Ind — Martinas Geben recorded a double-double to lead Notre Dame to a victory over St. Francis (N.Y.).

Geben scored 14 points and recorded 10 rebounds, while Bonzie Colson just missed a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine boards for Notre Dame (7-1).

Jalen Jordan, D.J. Porter and Rasheem Dunn each scored 10 points to lead the Terriers (2-6), who shot 31.7 percent.

Central Florida 65, No. 24 Alabama 62

TUSCALOOSA, Ala — Terrell Allen scored 16 points and made a crucial steal in the waning seconds to lead Central Florida to an upset of Alabama.

A layup by Allen with 3:26 left in regulation gave UCF a 62-58 lead. Alabama (6-2) answered when Donta Hall – the game’s top scorer with 20 points — made a layup, cutting the lead to 62-60 with 3:01 remaining. The teams did not score again until 53 seconds remaining when UCF’s 7-foot-6, 295-pound center Tacko Fall committed his fifth foul. Collin Sexton made both free throws to tie the game 62-62.

UCF forward A.J. Davis made one of two free throws with 25 seconds left after he was fouled by Herbert Jones on a drive to the basket to give the Knights a 63-62 lead. Allen then stole the ball and fed Dayon Griffin for a layup with 10 seconds left, increasing the lead to 65-62.
