ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia senior Mikeisha Welcome has been named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week following her performance at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, according to a league announcement Tuesday.

Welcome is the fifth Bulldog to earn an SEC weekly honor this indoor season: Christopher Morales Williams (Men’s Co-Runner of the Week), Alex Kolesnikoff (Men’s Co-Field Athlete of the Week), Jehlani Gordon (Men’s Freshman of the Week) on Jan. 30 and Riyon Rankin (Men’s Freshman of the Week) on Jan. 23.

Welcome, a native of Toronto, Canada, worked up to a third triple jump attempt of 13.52 meters/44 feet, 4 ¼ inches in her season debut to grab the top collegiate spot (second overall) at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. This put her in the No. 1 spot for the league this season and at No. 4 on the 2024 NCAA list.

Up Next: Georgia splits the squad for the Tiger Paw Invite (Clemson, S.C.) and the Music City Challenge (Nashville, Tenn.) on Feb. 9-10.
