These are the candidates for Week 6 of the Albany Herald Player of the Week High School Football Poll. Voting ends at noon Thursday.
GREG MARSHALL
Position: Quarterback/Punter
School/Year: Westover, Sr.
Why he’s here: Marshall accounted for three touchdowns in Westover’s 35-7 victory over Hardaway Thursday night. The senior finished with 126 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also passed for 17 yards on 2 of 4 with a touchdown. He also had four punts, averaging 40 yards per kick.
JOE MINTER
Position: Running back/linebacker
School/Year: Terrell County, Sr.
Why he’s here: Joe Minter had a big performance in Terrell County’s 40-0 victory over Baconton Charter. He finished with 173 yards rushing on four carries and scored three touchdowns. He scored on touchdown runs of 86, 56 and one yard.
COOPER ROBERTS
Position: Free safety/running back
School/Year: Deerfield-Windsor, Jr.
Why he’s here: Roberts played a key role in helping Deerfield-Windsor defeat Southland in the GISA Region 3-AAA opener. He rushed for 101 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass.
