ADEL —Just a day after Worth County self-destructed in a six-run loss to Cook, the Rams baseball team grabbed an early lead and defeated Cook 5-2 Friday night at Bruce Long Field.

The victory gave Worth County the season series (two game to one) and improved the Rams’ record to 10-3 overall, 2-1 in Region 1-AAA play.

Worth scored on a fielder’s choice by Braden King in the first inning, a walk by Gabe Goff and a walk by King in the second inning.

Worth County took an early lead in the first inning. Braden King hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Hunter Goodwin earned the victory on the mound. The junior hurled a complete game, allowing two runs and seven hits, while striking out five. He walked only one batter.

Worth County had 10 hits in the game. Michail Howell and DJ Edwards each collected multiple hits. Goff and King each drove in two runs.

Cook fell to 9-4 overall, 1-2 in Region 1-AAA.

The Rams will play host to Dougherty Tuesday night in a doubleheader at Pope Park. The first game starts at 4:30 p.m.
