Worth County baseball wins again, Lee County falls to Thomas Central

The Worth County Rams improved their record to 8-1 Wednesday with a 4-2 victory over the Berrien County Rebels in Nashville.

Jeremiah Reddell led the Rams to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed eight hits and two runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one. Griffin Melton threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Gabe Goff started the scoring for Worth County in the opening inning with a single that knocked in a run. Goff, Cason King, Bryce Graddy, Gabe Burger, Jack Fletcher, and Bailey Coker each managed a hit for the Rams.

The Rams will host Brooks County Friday in Sylvester. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.

Thomas County Central 2 Lee County 1

After tying the game 1-1 in the top of the 7th inning Wednesday, the Lee County Trojans fell to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets for the second time in two weeks when the Jackets scored in the bottom of the seventh to win 2-1.

Jacob Barwick took the loss for the Trojans after pitching 6 and 1/3 innings. He gave up only three hits, but the Jackets scored two runs. He struck out five and walked four.

The Trojans had tied the game in the top of the seventh when Matt Cooper scored on a single by Seth Nelson.

Nelson, Logan Goff, and Brian Myler each had a hit for the Trojans. Chase Somers had two hits on the day for Lee County.

The Trojans will make the trip to Newnan, just southwest of Atlanta, for two games on Friday.
