Worth County opens with 10-0 shutout

SYLVESTER – Worth County’s Jeremiah Reddell pitched a complete game shutout Monday as the Worth County Rams opened their season with a 10-0 victory over the visiting Fitgerald Purple Hurricanes. Reddell had taken a perfect game into the fifth inning and was one out away from a perfect game when Fitzgerald’s Austin Yarborough got a single with two outs.
The Rams picked up seven runs in the fourth inning. After walks by Reddell and Bailey Coker, the Rams got singles by Gabe Burger and Worth Smith and a double from Gabe Goff. Reddell, Goff, Burger, Smith, and Coker all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Worth County had gotten on the board first in the bottom of the first with a single by Burger.
Reddell was credited with the victory for Rams Baseball. He lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero.
Bubba Newell took the loss for Fitzgerald. He went three innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out two.
Worth County racked up eight hits on the day. Burger and Cason King each managed multiple hits for Rams Baseball. King and Burger all had two hits to lead Rams Baseball. The Rams were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Smith made the most plays with eight.
The Rams were scheduled to play Early County High School in Blakely Tuesday afternoon. The next home game for Worth County will be on February 22 when the Westover Patriots come to town.
