Worth County tops Cairo on Cason King’s eighth inning homerun

CAIRO — Worth County’s Cason King blasted a two-run homerun in the eighth inning to give the Rams a 3-1 vicotry over Cairo Thurdsay in Cairo. The win moves Worth’s record to 3-1 as they head into Friday’s game with Westover.
The Syrupmakers were leading 1-0 when the Rams tied the game in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Jack Fletcher. Strong pitching kept the hitters at bay for both sides. Worth County’s Jeremiah Reddell struck out six batters and Cairo pitchers struck out 12.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Jeremiah Reddell struck out six, while Cairo pitchers sat down 12.
Reddell pitched all eight innings, allowing three hits and one run to record the win on the mound..
Garrett Gainous lasted seven innings for Cairo, allowing three hits and one run while striking out 11 and walking zero.
King, Gabe Goff, Gabe Burger, Fletcher, Bailey Coker, and Reddell each collected one hit to lead Worth County.
The Rams will host Westover Friday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 in Sylvester.
