Thornton plans to sign with Clemson
Randolph-Clay center Kobi Thornton will sign a basketball scholarship with Clemson during the NCAA’s early signing on Nov. 13. The 6-foot-2 standout is ranked as the 89th best player in the Class of 2016 by ESPN.com.
Georgia game with Auburn to kick off at noon
The Saturday, Nov. 14, football game between Georgia at Auburn will be televised by CBS with kickoff at noon.
CBS will feature a doubleheader on that day. Their second game will either be Alabama-Mississippi State or Arkansas-LSU at 3:30 p.m. and will be determined after games of Nov. 7.
This will be Georgia’s fifth appearance on CBS this season.
Previous Georgia games aired on CBS were vs. Vanderbilt, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.
Special Olympics Georgia offers coaches clinic
Special Olympics Georgia, along with the Albany Recreation and Parks Department and the Albany Area YMCA, will hold a Coaches’ Clinic on Nov. 13 at the YMCA (1701 Gillionville Rd.).
Adults 18 and older who are interested in becoming a Special Olympics certified coach may attend. The registration fee is $25 per person, which includes lunch. The clinic begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 3:00 p.m.
Training will include a general orientation in the morning followed by a choice of volleyball or basketball. The afternoon session will include a choice of aquatics, powerlifting, or GMS (Games Management Software) training. The registration deadline is Monday, Nov. 9. SIAC Football Championship Games on sale
Tickets for the 2015 SIAC Football Championship game are on sale and available for online purchase to the general public.

The 2015 SIAC Football Championship will feature division winners from the east and west at Cramton Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
Albany State (5-3 overall, 3-0 SIAC) and Fort Valley State (5-3, 3-0) will battle it out for the east division title on Nov. 7 in the 26th Annual Fountain City Classic at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ga.
In the west division, Tuskegee (8-1, 4-0) and Miles (5-4, 4-0) will meet for the divisional championship on Nov. 7 at Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium in Tuskegee, Ala.
For the second time in league history, the SIAC will host its football championship in Montgomery, Ala. The SIAC is slated to hold the championship game at the Cramton Bowl for one more season.
