ALBANY — The second man involved in the shooting at Nottingham North Apartments on Wednesday died early Friday, officials from the Albany Police Department said.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman with the APD, said Bryan Collier, 35, was pronounced dead at 2:58 a.m. Friday. Collier was transported by paramedics to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries in the shooting, which was called in at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday. He had since been at Phoebe in critical condition.
Police were called to the scene of a shooting at the complex, located at 2401 Nottingham Way. When officers arrived, they discovered Herbert Garner Mitchell, 56, and Collier with several gunshot wounds in the area of Nottingham North neighboring Westwind Apartments, said Banks.
Banks said the shooting apparently stemmed from an altercation between the two. Witnesses stated they got into an argument and started shooting at each other at close proximity.
Before this week, the last shooting death in Albany was on March 6, when Tony Carter, 40, became the city’s first homicide victim of the year.
