SYLVESTER — Models will be taking to the runaway in Sylvester again July 9 for the Magnifique Fashion Show, which is being conducted to raise money for the Sylvester Woman’s Club.
The event is being organized by show producer Victoria Henley, a Colquitt native who recently signed as an entertainment contributor and correspondent for Runway Magazine and Runway TV Channel in Los Angeles.
“There’s a lot of local talent and models involved, designers and retailers, then it’s bringing people in from other areas into Sylvester,” she said.
Henley said the fashion show began as a way to help the club that her grandmother, Ramona Boatright of Sylvester, is a member of.
“The Woman’s Club was having some financial issues and originally when the show started, the purpose of it was to just help them out because they do a lot of good in the community,” Henley said. “They do a lot of charitable work.”
She said the event will attract individuals in the modeling industry from outside the state and will feature both local and national designs.
“The show became a big hit and we eventually had people from Chicago and Dallas and Miami, as far as models and designers go, really flying in to be part of the event, which it’s cool to have such a small town and to have that,” she said.
The event will feature live entertainment. Henley said that Brooke Starr, an “American Idol” semifinalist and host of Lunch Date Diva Entertainment program on Hot 102.7, will be at the event, as will Harvest Music Studio, which will be bringing a variety of music styles, including pop, country and rock.
“It’s something for the community,” Henley said.
The show is set to start at 3:45 p.m. and doors will open at 2 p.m. at the Woman’s Club. Tickets are $25, general admission, and $35 for front row. Front-row seats include raffles for jewelry and other gifts. The ticket sales will benefit the club.
Henley said the event will feature nationally acclaimed designers, retailers and brands such as Native Royalty, Kassidy’s Kloset, Lisa B Collection, Plunder, Angel’s Touch Boutique, Batu Collection, and vendors including Mary Kay by Shala Juster and VIP Cosmetics by Paige Carter.
Henley, who recently played the role of Anna in the indie thriller “Witch Hunt,” said she is preparing for the launch of her own clothing line, The Victoria Henley Collection, at New York Fashion Week in September, with 35 pieces from the collection will to be featured in Detroit on Oct 2.
She said she is collaborating with five designers/ manufacturers for the collection and will be modeling in her own catalog, as well as shooting a magazine cover/ editorial for Sheeba Magazine featuring her pieces. early next month.
