Georgia energy regulators have authorized Georgia Power Co. to move forward with plans to buy 970 megawatts of solar power from five other utilities.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew more than 5,000 Georgia Power Co. personnel have been dispatched to the state’s impacted areas in a effort to restore power to its more than 200,000 customers who lost power during the storm.
