Closed portion of Liberty Expressway reopens with single lane for eastbound traffic
State Route 313 in Worth County reopens but could have traffic delays
From Staff Reports
ALBANY — Eastbound traffic that had been rerouted for a stetch of Liberty Expressway can now continue on the bypass, though traffic will be restricted to use of the left or inside lane between Blaylock Street and Clark Avenue, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said Tuesday night.
Also, Georgia Highway 313 has been reopened, though there could be spot lane closures for a portion of the road for utility repairs to continue, GDOT officials said.
Transportation officials said the righthand (outside) lane for eastbound traffic on Liberty Expressway (U.S. Highway 19) will remain closed while Albany utility crews replace power poles that were knocked down by the severe storm that hit the area Monday night and early Tuesday morning. The duration of the lane closure is unknown, officials said.
“Drivers are asked to slow down when they approach the area, which will be well-marked with barrels, and plan for delays,” GDOT officials said.
Spot closures on SR 313, meanwhile, can be expected between milepost 10 and the intersection with SR 32 at Doles. Travel on the road had been impacted by fallen trees and power lines on SR 313. Motorists on that road also should anticipate delays, officials said.
