Albany police seek public’s help after city cemetery truck damaged
Tools were used to break into a city dump truck on Feb. 24

ALBANY — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who broke into and damaged a city of Albany dump truck at Riverside Cemetery.
Images of the incident were captured on surveillance cameras.
According to an Albany Police Department report, an officer responded at 7:35 a.m. Feb. 24 to the cemetery at 200 Cotton Ave., where an employee said a city dump truck had been damaged and that there was a surveillance camera where the truck had been parked.
The video at 11:54 p.m. Feb. 23 showed an unidentified male entering the premises and taking an ax and other tools from the tool box on another city utility truck. The vandal used the ax to break the door handle on the passenger side of the truck, then used an unidentified tool to break into the dump truck through the driver’s door. The video showed him “rambling through” the vehicle, opening the hood and removing the battery.
Anyone with information as to the location of the suspect is asked to call the APD or Albany Area Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477). The caller may remain anonymous.
